What is Userlytics about? If you are one of the many people who are looking for a simple and quick side gig you may have come across their site and find yourself wondering; Is Userlytics.com a scam or is it really possible to make a bit of coin from their site?
I am constantly amazed at how many ways there are to make money. Not to mention how many ways and methods that there are to make money online.
I already knew about:
- Affiliate marketing
- Amazon FBA
- Amazon affiliates (I know this is the same as affiliate marketing but it is such a presence online that I thought it worth giving it it’s own bullet point)
- Ecommerce (this has some overlap too with Amazon FBA since that is technically ecom too.)
- Local marketing/SEO
- Gig sites like Fiverr.com
These are just a few that came to mind just off the top of my head. I am sure there are at least double that amount of ways to make money online and many more once you consider the different variations that come into play with each method.
One I haven’t come across till now, at least online, is usability testing.
I am familiar with focus groups and giving feedback of taste testing of new food products in my city. I have taken part in several of these studies over the years. They are a free meal and usually $25-$50 for around 45 minutes of my time.
Usability testing is sort of the same type of deal but for an online user experience.
What Is Userlytics About?
Userlytics is a third party site that is used by product developers to gain insight into how their products will be perceived in the real world.
This valuable insight is gathered through usability testing. You can sign up to Userlytics to become a tester and in turn they will provide gigs to test products like websites and apps. In exchange they will pay you.
What Is Usability Testing?
Usability testing in a nutshell is just what it sounds like. Testing that determines the usability of a specific product or item. Items like websites, apps, prototypes, advertisements, and videos are some of the popularly tested items online.
Real people are given specific tasks in order to determine if the product needs to have any tweaking done to it. The testers give feedback about their experience with the product. This helps the developers fix any quirks before going “live” with the product.
How Does Userlytics Work?
First off you need to register with them to become a user tester by filling out what they call a short form. Actually the form is just filling in your email address so you can get paid. Clicking the box confirming that you are at least 16 years old and also clicking the box about their terms of service.
You will then recieve notifications when a test is available. Complete the test per the provided instructions and then get paid.
What Is a Userlytics Test?
When you receive a notification that a test is available I would recommend jumping on it immediately. There is usually a limited number of participants that each test can have. Once the slots are filled you will have to wait for another notification.
In order to take the test you will be prompted to download the Userlytics recorder to your computer or the Userlytics app to your phone (you can get it for your phone from Google Play or the App Store). You will be prompted to download the recorder prior to starting the test that you were invited to.
You should only have to do this one time. Then before you start your test you will be given a code to copy and paste into a form before you can access the test.
Each test should take you between 20 and 40 minutes.
What I didn’t expect was that during the test you have to use your microphone on your laptop or phone and speak about your user experience the entire time.
Once you get used to speaking about what you are doing and experiencing it becomes second nature.
Userlytics Equipment Requirements
Here are the Hardware/Software equipment guidelines that you will need to be a tester.
If your computer or phone is even somewhat newer you will easily meet the equipment requirements to become a Userlytics tester.
Can You Make Money With Userlytics?
Yup you definitely can make money however…..don’t expect to make a lot. As I stated before there are a limited number of slots per test.
Each test pays between $5 and up to sometimes (not usually) $90 and will take you most of the time between 20 and 40 minutes to complete.
This is very easy cash paid to your paypal account but don’t expect it to be consistent money. When you get a notification about a test just think of it as bonus money.
Userlytics Is Not A Scam
Userlytics isn’t scam but it also is not a way to earn a consistent income online. I suppose you could increase the income consistency of usability testing by signing up for a bunch of sites and trying to keep track of them all.
Personally I think of any usability testing that I do as spending money.
There are very consistent ways to make money online and if you are still here and willing to hear about how I make money online I would like you to visit the site where I learned how to make online cash.
Don’t worry this isn’t a hard sell to get you to buy into some program but rather a free membership to a site where you can create a free account (no payment information even required).
Once you get your free account you have access to some foundational training. I hope after checking out the free training and you see the value and will want access to everything the site offers. This is totally up to you….no pressure. Keep your free account as long as you like.
Again this is how I learned to make money online. To this day I am still a member of this site.
I have also written a very basic blog post about it.
If you have any questions or experiences with usability testing or making money online in general feel free to leave them in the comment section so everyone can benefit.
